ACADEMIC CURRICULUM

KINDERGARTEN CURRICULUM :-
The Kindergarten comprises of Nursery, L.K.G and U.K.G. and admits children aged 2.5 years and above for Pre Nursery as per the directive of the State government as of 1st of June in the year the child is seeking admission.
For grades, LKG and UKG the age criteria is 3.5 years and 4.5 years and above respectively. We believe that Kindergarten is the stage where the foundation for a child’s future is laid and hence utmost care is taken to make this foundation strong and sturdy.
School timings for the Kindergarten is from 9:30 a.m. to 03:30 pm
Kindergarten is the perfect platform to tickle the brains of our tiny tots and propel them with visible learning outcomes by relating the content to life. Storytelling, Puppetry, Hands-on activities, emphasis on a sound mind and a sound body through physical exercises, creative corners to get our tiny tots to ponder and question are unique focal points of the curriculum. The perfect ambience for learning is created where each of the well-spaced and airy classrooms is equipped with Smartboards, multimedia content and audio-visual teaching aids to achieve desired learning outcomes. A system of “Continual Informal Evaluation” will be followed which evaluates students based on classwork, theme-based worksheets, and observation sessions. An assessment report highlighting the various aspects of the child’s development will be submitted to the parents biannually.
Grade 1 - 2
The Primary wing at the Akshara School of Excellence comprises classes Grade 1 and 2. The minimum age for entry into Class 1 is 5.5 years as of 1st June in the year the child is seeking admission.
Admission to the following classes increases by a year accordingly. The classes are power packed with activities that are designed to enhance knowledge and cultivate skills and values in our young enthusiastic. The Primary years are of extreme importance and a multitude of opportunities are provided for students to innovate, create and communicate.
School timings for grades 1 and 2 are from 09:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Grades 3 – 8
The curriculum for grades 3, 4 and 5 is an amalgamation of knowledge, skills, and attitudes as highlighted in the NEP 2020. The curriculum is designed to facilitate age-appropriate knowledge, transversal skills like critical thinking, creativity, communication, student leadership, confidence, emotional and social wellbeing, etc. through various strategies. Experiential learning, project-based learning, and developing a growth mindset are key areas of focus.
Formative and summative assessments will be conducted in the academic year that is divided into two terms. Project work and creative assignments are also part of the assessment process. Promotion will be granted on the basis of the entire year’s performance of the student as per state norms specifications. The assessment pattern followed is a system of evaluation that takes a holistic approach to a student’s development. School timings for grades 3 to 8 are from 09:30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
REMEDIAL TEACHING:
Remedial classes for the academically backward students are held after the regular class hours to bring them up at par with the rest of the class.
SPORTS AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Sports and co-curricular activities ensure holistic development of students by providing learning experiences that are an extension of core educational and developmental experiences.
These activities facilitate sportsman spirit, leadership quality, time management, improve physical endurance, promote healthy competition, and foster sporting proficiency levels of students.
Akshara School of Excellence offers a well maintained playground, which helps in training the students in athletics events, volleyball, throw ball, basketball, badminton, cricket, Kho-Kho and kabbadi.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
Science and Technology are developing every single day. Skillsets are redefined every fortnight. Schooling in no exception; teaching through co-curricular activities are gaining prominence across the world. Co-curricular activities refer to all the activities performed by the students to enhance their life skills. These activities help to improve communication skills, develop methodical time management skills, inculcates moral values and decision making ability, analytical ability, teaches self-motivation and develops patience.
Co-curricular activities in School Are as follows:
Chess, Yoga, Karate, abacus along with debate & Declamation, group discussion, essay writing, recitation, story writing and Storytelling & Recitation, , Elocution & Extempore, Vocal & Instrumental Music, Classical & Folk Dance, Art & Craft, Drawing & Painting, Creative Writing, Quizzes, drama, celebration of different national and religious festivals etc
NO BAG DAY (Every Saturday):
Every Saturday prescribed activities will be conducted instead of routine academic activities. This day is to encourage students to take part in extracurricular activities to enhance their knowledge. As per the new education policy, bag-less day will be encouraged throughout the year for various types of enrichment activities involving arts, quizzes, sports, art & craft etc.
STUDENTS COUNCIL
Every year, the student council members are elected in a democratic manner through an election. The Student Council comprises school pupil leader with his cabinet members and leaders representing all the four Houses. The leaders will be chosen on the basis of total votes gained during school parliament election.
The School Student Council identifies and represents students’ issues and interests, participates in developing and promoting educational projects of the School, and proposes activities to the School administration that would enhance the quality of life for students. These responsibilities groom the council members to take initiatives and lead the student body.
